ENVIRONMENT
The Public Buildings Service (PBS) of the National Capital Region (NCR) of the General Services Administration (GSA) consists of one main office with approximately 1,400 users and 71 field sites with 1,000 users. The field sites are distributed throughout the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
CHALLENGE
In the past, the Information Technology Division at GSA used a Microsoft Access database to manage maintenance jobs for IT assets; it lacked the needed capabilities. GSA requested a web-based application that would provide the following functionalities:
- Manage assets and user assignments

Provide an assembly line configuration management system that could process over 1100 pc’s annually

Serve 71 field sites across the metropolitan area

Provide a centralized database

Ensure that data is both accessible and secure
FUNCTIONAL CAPABILITIES:
Within the Inventory/Setup Room Application, there are three main sections: Setup Room, Inventory, and System Maintenance. These sections have the following functionality:

SECURITY:
To ensure the security of the data within the Inventory/Setup Room Application, users are assigned roles, which give them specific functions:
